The role of the combiner box is to bring the output of several solar strings together. Each string conductor lands on a fuse terminal and the output of the fused inputs are combined onto a single conductor that connects the box to the inverter.

The combiner box provides a way to combine multiple source circuits in a PV array into a single DC output. Each power circuit is individually blown by a touch-safe fuse holder. The combiner box allows the system to operate fail-safe in the unlikely event of an unusually high current flowing through the source circuit. In addition, the combiner box provides a convenient way to access the DC portion of the PV system for regular maintenance and troubleshooting. Widely used in homes, solar farms and solar pump systems.
